As with all these games, new difficulties, cosmetics, weapons, and beating your time, all await you after the credits roll and I look forward to further playthroughs. Overall this is a great Resident Evil game. Not really a complaint just something I noticed. So word to anyone buying who likes a fair challenge, I would recommend going on the difficulty above standard. I noticed here the standard felt a slight bit too easy, especially on boss battles. The only thing I noticed was usually in past entries the standard difficulty mode was REALLY well balanced for a first playthrough before ramping it up on a second or third playthrough. Though it isn't necessary if you watch the 7 recap at the start (or a youtube video to explain 7 if you really don't want to play it for some reason) While they do a brief rundown from the events of 7 I still recommend playing 7 first to understand every reference and story callback to that game (also it's just an amazing game you should play).

The story was fantastic and is of course a sequel to 7. This section in particular made me feel more scared and uncomfortable than even Resi 7 (people who have played probably know the section I'm talking about) While yes on the whole this game is less scary than the previous entry. It has sections with really interesting puzzles and backtracking with barely any shooting while being stalked by a mr x type stalker enemy (lady D) which reminded me of Resident Evil 2.Īnd it also had a big section where they took inspiration from Resident Evil 7 which had quite intense horror and puzzle rooms (think the birthday puzzle room in Resi 7). It has a merchant (called the duke) with buying, selling, upgrading, and finding treasure like resident evil 4 with some sections in the game where you are shooting multiple enemies with plenty of ammo again like 4. So let's take the best parts of all those games and mash them all together." And they absolutely hit it out of the park on delivering that! Resident Evil 8 feels like Capcom sat down and said "Okay, we feel like our best games in the series were 2,4, and 7.

But I've just finished my first playthrough and wanted to give them now. Wow! I usually wait until I've played through the game 2 or 3 times with a resident evil title before I give my full thoughts.
